From high-level trends to high-fives for our teammates, here’s what’s been buzzing in and around the Hive this month.

What’s Changing in Advocacy? A Lot.
That was the focus of our opening panel at this year’s Buzz Advocacy Summit, featuring Nneka Chiazor (President, Public Affairs Council) and Kate Ackley (Senior Reporter, Bloomberg Government). The discussion offered thoughtful insight into how organizations can adapt their strategies to today’s fast-moving policy environment.
Here are a few takeaways:
-
Stay grounded in your mission—Fast-moving news cycles and policy shifts call for steady footing.
-
Take the conversation upstream. More advocacy is bypassing Congress and heading straight to the White House. That means your messaging should align with executive branch priorities—think jobs, economy, and national impact—with a bold tone and a credible messenger.
-
Think beyond the now. Keep a long-term view–bipartisan positioning can help your message carry forward across political shifts.

Advocacy Hackathon: Back by Popular Demand
After a successful debut last May, the Beekeeper x Quorum Advocacy Hackathon is returning for round two—this time during Quorum’s Wonk Week on October 7. Rally your team, roll up your sleeves, and dive into a real-world advocacy challenge. You’ll pitch your strategy to a panel of judges and compete for bragging rights (and maybe a little swag).

See You at WGR’s 50th!
Beekeeper Group is proud to sponsor the Women in Government Relations Leadership & Advocacy Conference, happening September 18–19. We’ve been longtime supporters of WGR and are excited to help celebrate 50 years of empowering women in policy.
If you’re attending, stop by our booth and don’t forget to download the official conference app—developed by our team—to follow the agenda and share feedback on-site.

Advocating on the Impact of Myopia with HCAPS
We were proud to support the Health Care Alliance for Patient Safety’s (HCAPS) inaugural Myopia Week of Action. Throughout the week, HCAPS sent letters to every state’s department of education urging their leadership in supporting a statewide public awareness campaign to educate families, school personnel, and policymakers on the condition’s impact on learning and development. HCAPS advocates across the country messaged lawmakers, shared stories on the impacts of myopia, and promoted the Week of Action on social media by utilizing an advocate toolkit.
