The Challenge
The Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) enlisted Beekeeper Group to audit and revamp their grassroots advocacy platform, the Member Advocacy Program (MAP). They had found membership engagement low, and the program wasn’t raising awareness about key policy issues. There was an opportunity to reframe participation to their audience.
The Approach & Solution
Beekeeper Group conducted an infrastructure audit that laid out some actionable changes IDSA could implement, including a design refresh for their emails and action center, some infrastructure changes to their advocacy CRM, and implementation of a ladder of engagement to help refresh their grassroots program. We also laid the foundation for future long term development, including an advocacy education module series, videos featuring members discussing the importance of different policy priorities, and additional brand work to elevate the advocacy program further.
The Results
Since the new program launched in early 2023, the MAP has grown exponentially. At launch, the program featured:
- 25 Champions
- 34 Advocates
- 189 Allies
- 885 Total Members
The ladder of engagement structure has unveiled new untapped high-level advocates, brought new advocates into the fold, and has helped boost IDSA’s advocacy recognition.
